Privacy Policy

Who we are

GetSolar Pty Ltd ("STC Trader by Get Solar", "we") runs this website, stctrader.com.au, to buy small-scale technology certificates (STCs) from solar retailers and installers. We also sell solar panels and home batteries to households through getsolar.cloud, which has its own privacy policy. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

If you apply for a trader account: your name, phone number and email address, your business name and ABN, and what you tell us about your business.
If you open an account: your bank details, which we confirm with you by phone. Please do not send them through the form or by email.
For each STC claim: the system owner's name and address, system details, serial numbers, photos and signatures that the Clean Energy Regulator requires. These reach us from the retailer or installer through BridgeSelect.
Records of our calls, emails and messages with you.

How we collect it

Directly from you: through our trader account form, by phone, email or WhatsApp. Our website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

to assess your application, and to set up and run your trader account
to create, register, trade and pay for STCs, and to keep the records the Clean Energy Regulator requires
to meet our tax and other legal obligations

We do not use system owners' details from an STC claim for marketing, and we do not market to your customers. We only send you marketing if you agree to it, and every marketing message lets you opt out.

Who we share it with

The Clean Energy Regulator, when we create and register certificates.
Service providers that host our website, database, email and business software: Cloudflare (this website), our web hosting provider (the database that stores what you send through the form), Google (email) and BridgeSelect (STC claims). Some of these may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and Singapore.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

How we protect it and how long we keep it

We keep your information on password-protected systems with access limited to people who need it. We keep applications that do not go ahead only as long as we need them to respond to you, account records for as long as needed for tax and legal obligations, and STC claim records for at least 5 years, because the Clean Energy Regulator can ask for them. After that we delete or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us below. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
