Common jobs in Sydney, installed in May to Dec 2026
Sydney is zone 3, rated 1.382, and a system installed in 2026 gets 5 years of certificates. Panel STCs are kW x rating x years, rounded down. Battery STCs do not depend on the zone.
| System | STCs | At $41 |
|---|---|---|
| 6.6 kW of panels | 45 | $1,845 |
| 10 kW of panels | 69 | $2,829 |
| 13.2 kW of panels | 91 | $3,731 |
| 13.5 kWh usable battery | 91 | $3,731 |
| 6.6 kW of panels and a 13.5 kWh battery | 136 | $5,576 |
Home systems, where no GST applies to the assignment. On a home system $41 is above the $40 clearing house cap, and the regulator advises caution with prices above it, so check us as you would any trader. What to check in any STC trader.
What you receive
| Job | You receive |
|---|---|
| Home system, owner not registered for GST | $41 per STC |
| Business system, owner registered for GST | $37.27 + $3.73 GST = $41 per STC |
As at 3 November 2026. No processing, administration, registry or software fees come off. Why GST depends on who owns the system.
STC zones across New South Wales
The zones do not follow state lines. Moree and Broken Hill are in zone 2; Sydney, Parramatta, Penrith, Newcastle, Wollongong, Gosford, Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Tamworth, Orange, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga and Albury are in zone 3; Cooma is in zone 4.
The zone comes from the federal postcode table, not from the state. A sunnier zone has a higher rating and earns more STCs for the same panels. Every postcode range and its zone, or type a postcode into the calculator above.

The paperwork a NSW claim needs
The Clean Energy Regulator will not create STCs without the state's electrical safety documentation. In New South Wales that is the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), which the licensed electrician provides under the rules of NSW Fair Trading.
The rest of the claim is the same everywhere: the STC assignment form, the written statements from the designer, the installer and the retailer, and the time-stamped, geotagged photos. Most of it is captured in the BridgeSelect app on install day. The full list.
Other incentives in New South Wales
The NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme has its own incentive for eligible home and business batteries, with its own rules on size and virtual power plants, delivered through accredited certificate providers rather than through STCs. NSW Government: Peak Demand Reduction Scheme.
Checked 4 November 2026. State programs change; the STC discount is federal and applies in every state until the scheme ends with 2030.

FAQ
Selling STCs in New South Wales
Is the STC price different in New South Wales?
No. We pay $41 per STC incl GST on every eligible home job in Australia, as at 3 November 2026. What changes between states is the zone, which sets how many STCs a panel system earns, not what each one is worth.
How many STCs does a 6.6 kW system get in Sydney?
45 STCs for an install in 2026: 6.6 kW x the zone 3 rating of 1.382 x 5 deeming years, rounded down. That is $1,845 at $41 per STC. The deeming years fall by one each January until the scheme ends with 2030.
Do you buy STCs from NSW installers and retailers?
Yes. We buy from anywhere in Australia. Claims run through BridgeSelect, we pay within 1 business day of approving a complete claim, and there is no lock-in or minimum. We are a Melbourne solar retailer ourselves, and your job and customer details are used only to create and trade the STCs.
What electrical paperwork does a claim in New South Wales need?
The Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), from the licensed electrician who did the work, alongside the assignment form, the written statements and the photos every claim needs. The regulator will not create STCs without the state's electrical safety documentation.
Is there a NSW rebate on top of the STCs?
The NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme has its own incentive for eligible home and business batteries, with its own rules on size and virtual power plants, delivered through accredited certificate providers rather than through STCs. Checked 4 November 2026.
Do battery STCs depend on the zone?
No. A battery earns usable kWh x the factor for the install date, wherever it is. A 13.5 kWh battery installed in May to Dec 2026 gets 91 STCs in Sydney and everywhere else.
