The move, step by step
- Read your current contract. Look for exclusivity, a notice period and a minimum number of jobs. We cannot see it, so if it is unclear, ask your current trader or your own adviser.
- List what is in progress. Every job with your current trader, where it is up to, and what you are owed for it. Where each job should go.
- Open an account with us. Send the form. We call within one business day, check your ABN, confirm your bank details by phone, send you our written trading terms and connect you in BridgeSelect. New account checklist (PDF).
- Send us one new job. On your first claim we also confirm your business and bank details, so allow for that.
- Let the old jobs finish. They stay with your current trader until they are paid. Keep that account open, and follow up anything overdue.
- Move the rest when you are ready, or do not. You can keep both for as long as you like. Using two traders also means no single one holds all of your money.
Jobs already in progress
Where a job goes depends on whether the system owner has already assigned the right to create its STCs. The regulator says an owner can assign that right to only one agent at a time, and that once it is assigned, your route to payment is your contract with that agent.
| Where the job is | Who holds it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted or sold, nothing signed | The system owner. It has not been assigned yet. | It can come to us, if your contract allows it. Put GetSolar Pty Ltd on the assignment form as the registered agent. |
| Assignment form signed, claim not lodged | The agent named on the form. | Finish it with your current trader. Do not ask the customer to sign a second form while the first still stands. |
| Claim lodged, in checking or with the regulator | The agent named on the form. | Leave it where it is, and follow it up with your current trader. |
| Claim failed by the regulator | The agent named on the form, until it withdraws in writing. | Ask your current trader first: the regulator sometimes allows a failed claim to be re-created. If the agent withdraws, talk to us before the customer signs anything. |
| Certificates created and approved | The agent that created them. | Nothing for you to move. What you are owed for them depends on your contract with that agent. |
A job moves only if the agent holding it lets go. The regulator describes two ways. The agent refuses the assignment and tells the owner in writing, usually through the retailer. Or the regulator fails a claim, the agent chooses not to re-create the certificates, and it tells the retailer and the owner in writing that it is withdrawing, why, and why the claim failed. The owner can then assign the right to a new agent, who must be told in writing why the claim failed. Why STC claims fail.
The regulator also says it will not fail valid STCs because the owner or retailer wants them with a different agent, and it warns everyone arranging a re-assignment that false or misleading information is an offence.
Watch the clock too. Certificates must be created within 12 months of the installation date, and a failed claim can be re-created only while the install is less than 12 months old, so a job that changes hands late can run out of time.
Has an agent refused or given up a job in writing? Call us on 0435 166 168 before the customer signs anything. We would need to see the agent's notice and, for a failed claim, the reason it failed, and we look at each of these jobs before taking it on.
BridgeSelect set-up
Claims with us run through BridgeSelect: the portal for your office and the app for your installer. BridgeSelect is a separate company, and we are one of the traders on its platform. Selling STCs through BridgeSelect has the detail.
If you already use it
- Keep your login. BridgeSelect says you can work with multiple rebate companies from a single login, and it lists multi-trader collaboration as a feature. We connect you to us when your account is open. Our BridgeSelect login page.
- Your installers keep the app. The scanning, photos and signatures stay the same. What changes is who the job is submitted to.
- Check the agent on each job. With two traders on one login, a job can end up assigned to the wrong agent, so check the name on the form before the customer signs.
- Job history. BridgeSelect's site does not say how past jobs appear when you add a trader, so we make no claim about it. Ask us or BridgeSelect before you move anything you need to keep.
If you use something else
You would be set up on BridgeSelect, and we will help you get set up, at no cost to you. Your office manages jobs in the portal. BridgeSelect says the app scans and verifies panel serial numbers, takes geotagged and timestamped photos, takes signatures on site or remotely, and works without an internet connection. Your installers will have something new to learn, so allow for that on the first job. Your current software can stay in place for the jobs still running with your current trader.
What to change for new jobs
- The assignment form. On a job for us, the registered agent named on it is GetSolar Pty Ltd. The regulator says you must make sure the right goes to the agent you have contracted with. Where the form comes from.
- Your own quotes and contracts. If your templates name your current trader's agent, change them for the jobs coming to us.
- Your team. Tell your office and installers which jobs go to which trader, so that none is submitted to the wrong one.
What the regulator asks for on a claim does not change with the agent, so a complete claim for your current trader is a complete claim for us. STC claim checklist (PDF).
No lock-in, no minimum
Opening an account costs nothing. There is no lock-in and no minimum, and nothing comes off the price: no processing, administration, registry or software fees. You can send us one job and keep your current trader for everything else.
If we do not suit you, stop sending us jobs. Jobs already assigned to us finish with us, under the same rule as above. Our written trading terms, which you get before your first job, set out the price, when you are paid and who carries the risk if the regulator does not approve a certificate.
Your customers stay yours. We use job and customer details only to create and trade the STCs and to keep the records the regulator requires. We do not market to your customers, and our trading terms say so.
What to check first
Moving only helps if the new arrangement is really better. Compare what lands in your account per STC on the same GST basis, when you are paid and what comes off. Seven checks for any trader, and they apply to us too.
As at 5 November 2026, with no fees taken off, paid within 1 business day of approving a complete claim, we pay:
| Job | You receive |
|---|---|
| Home system, owner not registered for GST | $38.64 per STC, no GST |
| Business system, owner registered for GST | $38.64 + $3.86 GST = $42.50 per STC |
STCs can be bought from the clearing house at a capped $40 before GST, and the regulator advises caution with payment prices above that cap. The main risk in selling STCs is not being paid, and starting with one job keeps what you have at risk small. How STC prices work.
